One of my favorite ways to start my day (or unwind from a stressful day) is taking a walk with my pups. Sometimes I’ll enjoy the sounds of nature, or I’ll pop in my headphones and listen to a good podcast. And why not listen to people talk about dogs while walking my dogs?
I’ve rounded up some of my favorite podcasts for all the pet lovers out there!
About: The Dogish podcast is dedicated to pet parents (…like me!). Hosted by Jasen Arias and Sylvia Wesolowski, Dogish covers all the topics pet parents may want to know about, from international animal rescue to keeping families together during the pandemic to training tips.
Where to listen: You can listen onApple Podcast, iTunes, Stitcher and Spotify. Learn more and start listening here.
My favorite episode: Sylvia and Jasen recently spoke with Andrea Servadio of Fit Dog. Andrea talks about dog care and ways to keep high energy, smart dogs (which I have one of each!) active and busy. Listen now.
Why We Foster
About: Why We Foster was created with the foster community in mind. You hear from Foster parents and advocates, and learn about the importance of fostering for the rescue world and community at-large. And if you don’t follow Stacey Axelrod of NYC Pet Photographer on Instagram yet, you’re missing out!
Where to listen: You can listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts and iHeartRadio. Start listening here.
My favorite episode: The premier episode, Goodbye is the Goal, is a must-listen. Stacey talks about the “elephant in the room” when it comes to fostering which is yes, having to say goodbye to your foster pet. But with that comes the joy of knowing you helped save an animals life and now have room to continue saving – and, you’ll always have those special memories and connections with your foster pet. Listen now.
The Best Friends Podcast
About: The Best Friends Podcast was created from an organization I’ve been following for a long time now and am such a supporter of their mission: Best Friends Animal Society. In this podcast you’ll hear stories from animal rescuers, volunteers, organizations and more on topics that the animal rescue and welfare community needs to hear about. Everything from burnout to advancing diversity in animal welfare to fundraising during COVID to general tips to help save animals in your community.
Where to listen: You can listen to the Best Friends Podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, Google Podcasts and Amazon Music.
My favorite episode: Host Jon Dunn recently spoke withKristen Hassen, the American Pets Alive! Director about the relationship communities have with animal shelters. It’s an important conversation about getting to the root of the problem on what led to a need for a shelter in the first place—and how to solve for that. Listen to the episode, titled A New Day for Animal Sheltering in the United States now.
Wear Wag Repeat Podcast
About: On the Wear Wag Repeat podcast, host Tori Mistick talks all things dogs and business. With topics ranging from how to start a pet business to how to grow your social media following, you know Tori will go there and give you the information you need!
